So to my surprise, I’ve discovered more mobile MMORPGs. Actual mobile MMORPGs with persistent game worlds – not pseudo MMOs, like Brave Frontier or Dungeon Hunter 5 that have RPG elements, but without persistent worlds. Below are a list of fun free to play mobile MMORPGs with persistent worlds that play like desktop MMORPGs. Grand Chase M is another pseudo MMORPG. It’s based on the desktop Grand Chase MMORPG from Kog Games, but doesn’t feature any persistent environments.
A fun free to play mobile MMORPG with a fantasy environment from One Thumb Mobile. Celtic Heroes is available on both android and iOS systems and features 5 playable classes. It has large open world fields, towns, and dungeons. The fantasy environment is a bit generic, but it’s still a pretty solid game.
Made by the same people behind Pocket Legends and Arcane Legends, Star Legends is a sci-fi themed mobile MMORPG with an open world. Play as a Commando, operative, or an Engineer. Despite the sparse selection of playable classes, Star Legends offers a traditional persistent world MMORPG experience on mobile. The sci-fi theme is a nice tough too from the more traditional fantasy environments in most MMOs.
A unique Diablo style action MMORPG on mobile from Kabam. It plays like Path of Exile or Diablo 3, but on mobile. With 4 player real time co-op dungeons, Spirit Lords is really the only Diablo style game on mobile. The tap controls work surprisingly well with Spirt Lords too. Vainglory features similarly well-implemented tap controls, but Vainglory is a MOBA whereas Spirit Lords is a more traditional MMORPG.
A unique Japanese developed mobile MMORPG by Asobimo Inc. Toram Online is a sequel to the older IRUNA online game, except localized in English and with superior graphics and gameplay. Toram Online has no defined class system and instead allows players to grow their character via a unique skill and stat customization system.
These are all well worth checking out. If you haven’t played these, do check them out and let me know what you think.
